Yokohama Rubber Co is the sixth tyre manufacturer in the world in terms of production volume. The Corporation produces tyres for passenger cars, sport utility vehicles (SUVs), delivery vans, trucks, buses and planes.
Tyres are produced in 12 factories (6 in Japan, 2 in the USA and 1 in China, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines).
Yokohama puts special stress on research and development, employing approx. 1000 persons in Research & Development Centres and spending over 100 million USD per annum for that purpose. Tyres are tested depending on their intended use in Daigo – Japan (dry and wet conditions) and in Takasu – Japan (winter conditions). Tyres are also tested locally in Europe: Nurburgring (Germany), MYLA (Great Britain) and IVALO (Finland).
Yokohama’s tyres are particularly appreciated by users of sports cars, and ensuring of high performance and satisfaction of their needs is also a part of Yokohama’s production strategy.
